GHMC targets planting of 40 lakh saplings

Hyderabad: City Mayor B. Rammohan has appealed to all officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, corporators, public representatives, residents welfare associations (RWA) and non-governmental organisations (NGO) actively participate in the prestigious Haritha Haram programme to achieve the target of planting 40 lakh saplings in the city this year.
The mayor asked officials to conduct ward committee, area sabhas and area committee meetings by involving all corporators, RWAs and NGOs.
Dr Rammohan said there should be an action plan for Haritha Haram programme in their respective jurisdiction and responsibility should be fixed for all the officials and public representatives.
The Mayor said that the corporation would plant 5 lakh saplings and the remaining 35 lakh saplings would be distributed among corporates, RWAs and citizens free of cost.
Dr Rammohan said everyone must take moral responsibility to make the city green and pollution free, the aim of the state government.
