Chennai: Man, friends attacked by ganja peddlers for lodging a case
The police have identified the eight men after taking the complainant’s statement and hope to arrest them soon.
Chennai: A 35 -year-old man and his friends were attacked brutally by eight people on Sunday evening for lodging a complaint against them. The gang also hurled petrol bombs on two cars of the complainants. The eight allegedly sell ganja and other banned substances in Maraimalai Nagar.
The police have identified the eight men after taking the complainant’s statement and hope to arrest them soon.
“The incident took place when Babu( 35) of Ninnakarai Housing board in Kancheepuram came out of his house for a walk on Sunday evening. The six men, who are drug peddlers, blocked his way and attacked him . They later followed the man to his house and ransacked his house, police sources said. On hearing the family’s cry for help, his friends Raman, Suman came to help, who were also attacked. Babu and his friends called the police. however, before police could reach the spot, the peddlers allegedly hurled petrol bombs on the cars of Babu and Suman and fled the spot.
Similarly, on Saturday night, a gang hurled a petrol bomb at a fast food shop in Maraimalai Nagar in Kancheepuram after the owner refused to give bribe. Police have launched a hunt for the gang based on a CCTV grab from the locality. Police suspect the involvement of the same gang in both cases.
