Nadda Meeting on June 25 at Nagarkurnool
Hyderabad: BJP president J.P. Nadda, who will address a public meeting in Nagarkurnool on June 25, is expected to give a renewed push to the party ahead of the state Assembly elections.
The state party unit is laying great stress on Nadda’s meeting, which comes after another event, featuring Union home minister Amit Shah, was cancelled.
The minister was busy overseeing relief and rescue operations for Cyclone Biparjoy. The BJP had planned to hold the meeting with 2 lakh people, as a show of strength in Khammam where the party is trying to woo former BRS leader Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
Speaking at a meeting to prepare for Nadda’s visit, the party’s state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar said that around one lakh people will attend the public meeting in Nagarkurnool.
“We will organise a public meeting in Khammam soon and teach a fitting lesson to those who state that the BJP does not have a base in that region,” he said, referring to the cancelled visit of Amit Shah.
Speaking on other issues, Sanjay alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is into black magic against him. Police took me near Rao’s farmhouse, after arresting him in the paper leak case, he said. “I am a devotee of Ammavaru and KCR’s black magic did not work against me and people also support me”, Sanjay said.
Sanjay wondered why the BRS government had celebrated water day on Sunday as part of the decennial celebrations of Telangana formation. “I noticed 80 per cent of villages are reeling under acute drinking water shortage during padayatra”, he said.
“Being a political party’s state president, my daily schedule is declared well in advance. Why is the Chief Minister not following a similar practice,” he wondered.
Sanjay reiterated that Rao will be thrown behind bars for his high-level corruption when the BJP comes to power in the state.
