Had expected Sheila Dikshit to quit party and take rest: Arun Jaitley
Jaitley also took a dig at AAP government and said that Delhiites are paying a big price for their experiment'.
New Delhi: Union minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday said that Congress is in its weakest position at present and that he had expected that the party's Uttar Pradesh face Sheila Dikshit will quit the party and take rest.
"Congress party is in the weakest position ever at present and, hence they have been taking decisions one after another...Recently they announced Sheila Dikshit as their face for UP election...Though I respect her a lot, I had expected that she will quit the party and take rest," he said at an event to mark two years of the Modi government.
"They will not get any votes in UP this time and similarly in other states. The country will not accept them till they change the perspective that leaders can be born only in one family," the Finance Minister said.
The senior BJP leader also took a dig at the AAP government in Delhi and said that the residents of the national capital are paying a big price for their "experiment".
"Every new experiment comes with new enjoyment. But in Delhi, people are paying a big price for the experiment. Delhi is the easiest to govern in the country as there are very less challenges but the level of political debate has stooped down to a different low at present," he said.
"They have no knowledge or intention of respecting the Constitution and focussing on development and growth," Mr Jaitley said as he listed the achievements of the BJP government at the Centre, including schemes like the Jan Dhan Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and for construction of toilets.
