New Delhi: Another revelation came up in the royal treatment provided to All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) (Amma) leader VK Sasikala. To ensure her privacy in prison, five cells next to hers being kept empty.

Not only this, according to an NDTV report, that quoted sources inside Karnataka prison said a flat-screen television has been put up in the cell where Sasikala is kept and she also has got access to unused chambers of jail officials for meeting visitors.

The details have emerged along with photographs and a video that was first aired on local channels that show a 150 foot-long corridor leading to the 61-year-old's cell which is reportedly kept clear at all times and is barricaded off at both ends, allowing Sasikala a suite of rooms, the report added.

Allegations of VIP facilities showered upon Sasikala led to senior police officer D Roopa losing her job on Monday as Deputy Inspector General (Prisons). She has been assigned as Commissioner for Traffic and Road Safety in Bengaluru.

In a report submitted on July 12 Roopa as Deputy Inspector of General (Prisons) had said there was "a talk" that Rs two crore had exchanged hands to give preferential treatment for Sasikala and there were allegations against him also.

She had also said that a special kitchen was functioning in jail for Sasikala in violation of prison rules.

Sasikala is lodged at Parappana Agrahara central prison in Bengaluru ever since her conviction in February in the disproportionate assets case along with her two relatives V N Sudhakaran and Elavarasi, all serving a four-year jail term.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered an inquiry into the allegations of Sasikala's exceptional treatment in prison. His administration claims that transferring Roopa is part of ensuring a fair investigation.
