Vijayawada: Chief Minster N. In a meeting on Monday over the project, the CM examined the progress through virtual inspection with live feed from cameras on the site.
“About 14 levels of almost all the 52 blocks of the project have been completed,” reported chief engineer Ramesh. “Completing 16 levels is going to be an important milestone for the Polavaram project, which is necessary to avoid damage due to floods.” All the equipment and necessary concrete has reached the project site, and the progress of construction is better this week, considering the incessant rains in the region. The speed and efficiency of labour should increase to 6,000 cubic metres per day. The CM said the aim is to complete 2 lakh cubic metres of concrete by the end of next month.
Engineer-in-chief Venkateswara Rao explained to the CM that the cooling plant will be ready in another two weeks which enable the completion of 6,000 cubic metres of work per day. Mr Mike from L&T and Bauer, presented the plan to construct diaphragm wall, and emphasized that this will be completed by May 2018, the deadline that had been given by CM Mr. Naidu.
