The numerous recruitment drives conducted by Andhra Pradesh Information Technology Academy (APITA) at various places in the state in the last six months provided jobs to 4,000 students.

HYDERABAD: Around 103 IT employees of CDK Global  across centres in both Hyderabad and Pune allegedly lost their jobs. According to the Forum of IT Professionals (FORIT), employees were called into a discussion room on the pretext of a meeting and were asked to leave the company within 30 minutes, without citing reasons.  “Over the last two days, 103 employees have lost their jobs in CDK while the company continues to make hundreds of millions as profit. There is a grave threat to the career of employees who refused to resign and asked for reasons,” FORIT alleged in a statement.

There were several posts put online by the techies who lost their jobs. One of them wrote that CDK Global, in a statement, said that these retrenchments were part of their review as they align themselves towards growth strategy. However, they did not confirm the number of techies retrenched. “As we allign ourselves with growth strategy, we would need to review our organisational structure and roles from time to time, as would any other business,”  Arvind Chaturvedi, danaging director of  CDK Global (India) said. “The company will continue to recruit and the business is looking to add another 150 people in this quarter,” he said, adding that they dealt with the employees in an empathetic manner.

“If this results in role redundancies, CDK will remain committed to deal with its employees in a professional and empathetic manner, providing necessary financial and outplacement support wherever appropriate. These decisions are always made through consultation and mutual agreement,” he said. FORIT demanded that the retrenched employees should be taken back to their jobs with immediate effect. “This act, illegal and inhuman, has thrown the lives of employees into a disarray and shows the callous nature of CDK Global towards law,” it said.
