GHMC to set up underground dumper bins
A GHMC official said the process to secure approval for the pilot project and procure and install underground bins would take a fortnight.
Hyderabad: The GHMC has decided to instal underground dumper bins at 12 locations including Raj Bhavan Road, Lumbini Park and Secretariat.
The other locations are Ameerpet (Big Bazaar), Mytrivanam (opposite Satyam theatre), SR Nagar bus stop, SR Nagar main road, Sundarnagar Road, opposite Taj Krishna, Banjara Hills police station, Banjara Hills Road No. 14, Filmnagar and opposite Senor Valley.
A GHMC official said the process to secure approval for the pilot project and procure and instal the underground bins would take a fortnight. The underground bins would be leak proof and prevent odour from the garbage from spreading in the area. Since the system is underground, they could not be vandalised. The bins are being installed as part of the CSR initiatives of Ramky Enviro Engineers Limited and Kamineni Hospitals.
Each bin costs Rs 5.5 lakh, including transportation and installation with a one-year warranty. Unloading of waste is done by a remote-controlled crane, and REEL will collect the garbage and transport it to the dumping yard.
