HC allows Punjab man to give ration, clothes in alimony to estranged wife

The man had lost his job and was ready to provide monthly ration to his estranged wife instead of monetary payment.

New Delhi: In a unique case, Punjab and Haryana High Court (HC) has allowed a man to give ration and clothes in Alimony to his wife.

The man, a resident of Punjab requested the court to allow him to give rice, wheat, sugar, pulses, ghee and 3 new salwar suits every four months instead of monetary payment.

This request was put forth by his lawyer before Justice RS Attri.

The man had lost his job and was ready to provide monthly ration to his estranged wife instead of monetary payment, News 18 reported.

According to his statement, the man said he was willing to give enough quantity of rice, sugar, milk, wheat for her to sustain.

The list included 20 kg rice, 5 kg sugar, 5 kg different pulses, 15 kg wheat and 5 kg pure ghee per month. In addition to this, it also included 3 wearing suits every three months and 2 litres milk every day.

He was also directed to clear the arrears of maintenance and show up in court by July 25.
