Hyderabad: Kids on roads irk SCPCR

A survey by an NGO Save the Children revealed that there are 28,560 children living on the roads of GHMC jurisdiction of 150 wards.

Hyderabad: State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) took a serious note on street children in Greater Hyderabad jurisdiction and sought report form the GHMC Commissioner on the welfare , rescue and the rehabilitation measures for them.

A survey by an NGO  Save the Children revealed that  there are 28,560 children living on  the roads of GHMC jurisdiction of 150 wards.

And this survey reveals 78.7 per cent  are migrated from Telangana district, 12 per cent from Karnataka while the rest are from Rajasthan and other places.

“This commission considering this as serious violation of the child rights and seeking your report with the details of rescue, rehabilitation and welfare measures initiated by your GHMC, demanded, Mr.  Achyuta Rao , Member SCPCR.
