Pushkaralu arrangements earn K Sivaprasada Rao's pat
Kodela, Manikyala review arrangements, cops brace for crowds on Thursday.
AMARAVATI: Praising the government for the arrangements including surveillance cameras, AP Legislative Assembly Speaker K. Sivaprasada Rao said that people, irrespective of religion, were coming for the Pushkaralu.
Endowments minister P. Manikyala Rao and Mr Sivaprasada Rao took part in the Krishna Pushkara Satra Yagam (penance) organised by Bharat Dharmika Vignana Parishad and performed special pujas. They visited complex of temples near Dhyana Buddha center and served food to pilgrims at Pushkarnagar. Meanwhile, priests performing Pinda Pradanam and other rituals at Seetanagaram ghats said that the pilgrims are forced to sit under the hot sun due to lack of shelter and this was one cause of decreasing numbers.
They said they expected large crowds on Thursday for the auspicious Sravana Pournami. Guntur collector, Kantilal Dande and IG, Guntur range, N. Sanjay visited Seetanagaram ghats and assured about foolproof arrangements on the occasion of Sravana Pournami. They said that the police are cautioning the pilgrims not to take holy baths at unauthorised ghats and sand reaches. Earlier in the day, a review meeting was conducted at the ghat in which Guntur urban SP, Sarvasreshth Tripathi and others participated and reviewed the security arrangements.
