Coimbatore: Free laptops given to 1,543 school students
As many as 11 sanitary workers of the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation were handed over safety equipment and accessories.
COIMBATORE: State minister S P Velumani distributed 1,543 free laptops to students of Government school here. Around 740 laptops were handed over to students of S R P Ammaniammal Girls Higher Secondary school, 579 laptops to students of RS Puram Girls Higher Secondary School and another 224 laptops were given to students of the Boys High School.
While interacting with the media the minister said that the laptops were distributed as part of a scheme introduced by the former chief minister J Jayalalithaa.

The minister also laid the foundation stone for the construction of an auditorium at ward 89 for the cost of Rs. 16-lakh and handed over Rs. five-lakh funds that will be used to construct additional rooms at the public library at ward 90 in Kovaipudur.
