VIJAYAWADA: Why should opposition leader and TD president N. Chandrababu Naidu fear the use of drones that were being used to identify the impact of the Krishna floods, asked YSRC MLA and official spokesperson Ambati Rambabu, while speaking to the media on Saturday at the party central office in Tadepalli.

All the irrigation projects in the state are overflowing. With flood waters directed towards Srisailam, Nagarjuna-sagar and Pulichintala projects and finally to Prakasam barrage, Mr Rambabu said that it was a good augury for the two and half-month-old Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government that there was copious rainfall and all the irrigation projects were full. “This is a rare event that has occurred after 10 years,” he said.

“There is all-round enjoyment among the farmers as they have adequate water for irrigation,” the MLA added.

However, he further said, there was sadness in the house of Chandrababu Naidu who had been living in an illegal construction across the Karakatta, on the banks of the Krishna river. Mr Naidu had been making baseless allegations against the government much like Nero playing the fiddle while Rome was burning. The ex-CM had been complaining about drones hovering over his house stating that they were put out there to spy on him.

But, clarified Mr Rambabu, the drones were being used to identify the effect of floods and to evacuate people to safer places.

“Why should Naidu occupy an illegal construction which was below the maximum flood level and where is the need for the government to sink his house,” asked the YSRC MLA. “It is unbecoming of an opposition leader to make such demeaning allegations. Naidu has lost the elections because of his high-handed behaviour,” he added.

Mr Rambabu said that Mr Naidu should leave the house immediately for his own safety. “Why did he not build his own house in Amaravati? Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy built his own house and is staying there. Naidu does not believe in making Amaravati his home and hence stayed in a rented illegal house,” said Mr Rambabu.

The YSRC MLA said the ex-CM should leave the house immediately as a true and responsible citizen of the state and said the government would certainly look into providing a house to Mr Naidu if he wanted one. He was already getting house rent allowance, he added.
