Vijayawada: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has said the state government is implementing a flexible tourism policy for attracting renowned hotel groups to AP so as to put the state firmly on the global tourism map.

The CM inaugurated the four-star hotel Hyatt Place here on Friday by unveiling its plaque. “The government is ready to encourage investors to set up their units in the hospitality sector,” he said.

“We have been encouraging 11 brands including Oberoi in the hotels sector. More hotels should come up in all important cities across the state and we will extend them full cooperation,” he said.

Jagan Mohan Reddy said he would like to see more international brands coming to Vijayawada and to other cities in AP in the coming days.

He reiterated that the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Policy 2020-25 aimed at building a robust tourism infrastructure in tune with the ever-changing nature of tourism and promoting responsible tourism practices among all stakeholders.

He recalled that among the government’s plans under the new policy is to develop high-end five and seven-star luxury resorts and hotels at prominent tourist destinations.

Hyatt Place chairman Veera Swamy thanked the Chief Minister for extending his support in establishing the hotel in Vijayawada, the 45th in the country. Tourism minister R.K. Roja, housing minister Jogi Ramesh, education minister Botsa Satyanarayana, home minister Taneti Vanitha and special CS Rajit Bhargava attended the event along with legislators and others.

After the Hyatt event, the CM went to the house of YSRC Vijayawada East constituency incharge Devineni Avinash and spent some time with his family, YSRC leaders and cadres. Avinash’s house was close to the Hyatt Place.

Notably, the Vijayawada East constituency was a bastion of Telugu Desam. In 2019, Gadde Ramamohan of TD won the seat. However, Jagan Mohan Reddy concentrated on Vijayawada East constituency for its development. He appointed Avinash, son of late Devineni Nehru, who once ruled the area, as the constituency in-charge.
