PM Modi Set India on Fast Track Development: FM
BHUBANESWAR: Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership had set India on the fast track of development and the momentum of the country’s economic progress was quite encouraging. She also said that going by the pace of current economic growth, India will become a developed country by 2047.
Ms Sitharaman, while delivering her speech at Central Sanskrit University in Puri, said sincere implementation of prudent fiscal measures and reforms had brought about significant improvement in India’s economic prosperity.
The minister exhorted people to forsake the “slavery mindset” instilled by the British rulers to realise the PM’s dream of becoming a developed nation.
“We need to free ourselves from the slavery mindset instilled in us by the British. Only then, India will become a developed country by 2047. India has already become the fifth largest economy and our growth momentum has been quite robust and encouraging under the present government led by PM Narendra Modi," said the minister while delivering her speech at Central Sanskrit University in Puri.
Sitharaman, who visited the Central University as part of the 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' campaign, addressed the gathering and said, “PM Modi laid out a development strategy- Panch Pran during Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort in New Delhi. During his speech, PM Modi emphasised to eliminate any trace of colonial mindset.”
The FM also administered 'Panch Pran pledge’ to the gathering as espoused by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said.
The Panch Pran pledge calls for making India developed and self-reliant by 2047, removing traces of colonial mindset, celebrating India’s heritage, strengthening unity and respecting those who protect the country and performing the duties of citizens for the development of the nation."
Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who also attended the event, said, “PM Modi has launched the 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' campaign to honour our martyred brave-heart men and women. I thank all of you to take the pledge for a better India.”
