Hyderabad: A woman, Masarath Begum of Nawab Sahab Kunta, in Falaknuma who was reportedly dead after being allegedly tortured by her Saudi employer, returned to the city along with her daughter, Ayesha Siddiqua.

The mother-daughter duo had left for Saudi Arabia to work as housemaids after being lured by agents from Vattepally in Falaknuma.

In October, pictures of the woman on a ventilator went viral. With her health condition unclear, the family members presumed she was dead and approached the police. Her mother, Sogra Begum, received a text saying that they should pay Rs 80,000 to get back Masarath Begum. “The police called up the agents and told us that she is alive,” said Ms Sogra Begum.

However, a few days ago, Masarath Begum returned to India from Riyadh with the help of the police and a few persons in Saudi Arabia.
