Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Monday directed the principal secretary, youth, tourism and culture department, to issue a notification within three weeks to appoint artistes and furnish a copy of the notification to the court.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil Bhaskaran Nair Radhakrishnan and Justice Ramesh Ranganathan was dealing with a PIL by Jukanti Ramesh and two others questioning the action of the state government which approved the appointment of 550 persons as artistes on nomination by the Telangana Samskruthika Samithi.

The bench on July 10, 2018, had found fault with the government for approving the appointments which were made without issuing the notification and calling for applications from eligible candidates.

The officials moved an application before the bench seeking extension of time to complete the process. While expressing their displeasure at the officials not implementing the court order, the bench granted three weeks.
