Telangana high court slaps Rs 2000 fine on TSPSC chief
The court sentenced the officers of the TSPSC to pay the fine within six weeks or undergo simple imprisonment of one month.
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has slapped a fine of Rs 2000 on Ganta Chakrapani, chairman of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) and A Vani Prasad, secretary of the TSPSC, for wilful disobedience to the court's orders.
Justice M S Ramachandra Rao, dealing with a contempt case related to the recruitment of 616 physical education teachers pursuant to a notification issued in 2017, sentenced the officers of the TSPSC to pay the fine within six weeks or undergo simple imprisonment of one month.
The judge also directed the state government to make an adverse entry in the Service Record of Vani Prasad, secretary of the TSPSC and initiate disciplinary action for wilful disobedience of court orders.
The TSPSC had issued a notification in April 2017 and conducted written exams in May 2017 for the posts of physical education teachers in the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society, Telangana Residential Educational Institutions Society, Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society, Mahatma Jyothibai Phule Telangana Backward Classes Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Societies and Telangana Minorities Residential Educational Institutions Societies.
Meanwhile, it had altered the qualifications. Now, undergraduates with a diploma in Physical Education were required for classes 5-8 and graduates in Physical Education were required for Classes 9 and 10. Some of the participants approached the High Court challenging the 2017 notification and written exam conducted by the TSPSC.
