SRINAGAR: At least, two Border Security Force (BSF) jawans were injured after Pakistan Rangers opened fire in the Arnia sector of the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district on Tuesday evening.
Quoting unnamed officials, local news agency GNS said that Pakistan Rangers fired some rounds towards the personnel of the BSF's 120 Battalion manning the border in Arnia sector. “In the incident, two personnel identified as Surjit Vishwas and Alok suffered injuries”, they said.
The duo was taken to the Government Medical College Hospital in winter capital Jammu, the report said.
This is the first such incident that has taken place along the IB after the military leaderships of India and Pakistan renewed the November 2003 ceasefire agreement in February 2021 and pledged to respect it not only along the Line of Control but also in all other sectors in J&K.
