Violation of norms: Marri Shashidhar Reddy writes to EC
Hyderabad: Marri Shashidhar Reddy, chairman of the state BJP’s Election Commission affairs committee, wrote to the Chief Electoral Office alleging violation of norms by way of illegal transfer of personnel in the excise department.
He attached a copy of the letter written by excise minister Dr V. Srinivas Goud, dated July 20, addressed to minister K.T. Rama Rao seeking the transfers. He claimed the same was endorsed to the Chief Secretary to examine and consider.
Shashidhar Reddy alleged that a large number of officers were office bearers of the Telangana Gazetted Officers Association, founded by Goud, and occupied key positions in the excise department. Many circle inspectors and sub-inspectors were continuing in the same positions since 2017.
“They openly work in the interest of the ruling party,” he wrote, and said they ought to have been transferred.
All the liquor depots were under the control of the excise superintendents posted in Mahbubnagar, Sangareddy, Nalgonda and Rangareddy districts and the ruling party had resorted to largescale supply of liquor to influence voters, Shashidhar Reddy claimed.
