I persuaded AIMPLB to file review, claims Asaduddin Owaisi
Mr Owaisi organised a meeting of board members for three days last year at the premises of Owaisi Hospitals and bore all the expenses.
Hyderabad: Mr Asaduddin Owaisi, president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), and Lok Sabha member from Hyderabad on Sunday said that he had persuaded the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) to file a review petition on the Supreme Court’s Ayodhya verdict. Mr Owaisi had flown to Lucknow to participate in the AIMPLB meeting.
On the day of the verdict, November 9, Mr Owaisi had said that he would certainly persuade the Muslim Personal Law Board to seek a review of the Supreme Court verdict.
A senior leader of the MIM told Deccan Chronicle, “Mr Owaisi is always at the forefront to provide help to the Muslim Personal Law Board. He not only provides his valuable advice, but is also generously helping the Board with funds. After the judgment of the Allahabad High Court on the Ayodhya dispute, the board had decided to challenge the judgment in the apex court, but it had not funds to bear the expenses of advocates’ fees and other expenses, as it has no source of income.”
The MIM leader said that when Mr Owaisi realised that the board was in need of money, he announced a support of Rs 55 lakh. He provided Rs 50 lakh from the MIM fund and remaining Rs 5 lakh was raised from party legislators. Likewise, Mr Owaisi organised a meeting of board members for three days last year at the premises of Owaisi Hospitals and bore all the expenses.
