Nizamabad: Five died in road mishap

One person died on the spot, while three died when they were being shifted to hospital.

Nizamabad: Five persons were killed when a speeding car rammed their autorickshaw on the Janakpet-Alisagar road  in Eda-valli mandal of Niza-mabad district.

One person died on the spot, while three died when they were being shifted to hospital. A fifth person died while undergoing treatment.

The deceased were identified as Jakkam Gangamma, 50, Kallepuram Sailu, 70, Jakkam Balamani, 55, Chikkela Sailu,  60 and the autorickshaw driver Nayeem. Three survivors have been taken to the government hospital in Nizamabad.

Edavalli assistant sub-inspector Yella Goud on receiving the information of the accident rushed there and shifted the injured persons to hospital.

The police registered a case and started an investigation.

While details were not clear, it appeared that the car which had hit the autorickshaw drove away after the accident. This could not be confirmed till late in the night. Sources said the car was coming from the opposite direction and hit the car.
