Non-FASTag vehicles will be able to continue using the existing parking system.

Hyderabad: Dedicated FASTag lanes were opened to the public at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Sunday. A release from GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) claimed that RGIA is the first airport in the country to introduce FASTag parking for passengers.

The facility has been launched initially with ICICI FASTag and will be rolled out through other major banks gradually. Non-FASTag vehicles will be able to continue using the existing parking system.

The FASTag solution is based on electronic RFID tags which enable automatic deduction of applicable parking charges when a car drives through the car park.
The car would not have to stop for cash transactions.

The FASTag, which is linked to a prepaid account, will be affixed to a vehicle’s windscreen. There will be no additional cost to customers with respect to parking fee.
