Warangal Urban: The citizens of Warangal can now file complaints on civic issues to the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation through the Swachhata app which was launched by the Ministry of Urban Development.

Mayor Nannapuneni Narender and GWMC commissioner Sruthi Ojha announced on Saturday that the corporation is now mapped to the android application and would begin taking complaints from the public. The application can be downloaded from Google play store on any android phone and is also available on the app store for IOS users.

Grievances related to irregular water supply in colonies, animal carcasses, unattended dustbins, garbage dumps, irregular garbage vehicles, negligent sweepers, and unhygienic public toilets with blockages, those without lights or water can be filed through the application.

Ms Sruthi Ojha said the grievances received through the app will be resolved within 24 hours. “All you need to do is click a picture of the garbage dump and post it on the application. The message will automatically get forwarded to the concerned authorities. They will have to act and send a photo back to the complainant after completing the work within the fixed time frame. This is a very good initiative and with the cooperation of people, Warangal can be made into a clean and green city,” she said.

The Union urban development ministry has launched this app to assess and rank 500 cities under ‘Swachh Sarvekshan’ based on levels of sanitation. Currently Warangal is ranked 96 in the list.

Ms Ojha said they are working towards placing Warangal among the top five cities by next year. She informed that grievances related to overflowing dustbins, garbage dumps and sweeping will be resolved within 12 hours of lodging the complaint.

Citizens can send photographs, and short description through the application. The app will pinpoint the exact location of the area of the complaint using geo-location of the pictures.
