Hyderabad: 5 projects under Centre's scrutiny

Hyderabad: Five external-aided projects, including Vijayawada metro rail and inner ring road phase 1 of Amaravati capital city, are under scrutiny of Central and state governments.

The state government has sent the proposals to the Central government about the AP State Highway construction project to develop road network in the state with the cost of Rs 3,300 crore. For this, the state government has proposed Rs 2,310-crore loan from Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank (AIIB).

State government will contribute Rs 990 crore as its share in the project. State government has requested the Joint secretary of Ministry of Finance to consider the proposal and same is under scrutiny by Central government. State government has sent another proposal to the Central government about AP state Highway expansion Project with the cost of Rs 1,679 crore. In this state government has proposed Rs 1,343 crore as a loan from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

State government will contribute Rs 336 crore as its share. This proposal is also under scrutiny of Ministry of Finance in the Central government. State government has sent another project proposal to the Central government on mitigating drought situation in the state with the cost of Rs 1,831 crore.

For this project state government has proposed Rs 499 crore as a loan from International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD) and state government will contribute Rs 758 crore as its share and others will contribute Rs 574 crore.

IFAD representatives have visited the state to discuss about this project in the month of August this year. This project proposal is under consideration of Ministry of Finance department in the central government.

State government has also proposed Rs 2,751 crore loan from Asian Infrastructure and Investment Bank (AIIB) to construct the Inner ring road phase-1 in the capital city of Amaravati. Total project cost is Rs 3,930 crore and state government will contribute Rs 1,179 crore as its share.  

The Municipal administration and Urban development department was asked to furnish cost benefit analysis report to consider the project. State government also has proposed Rs 3,600 crore loan from JICA for Vijayawada metro rail project. For this project state government will provide Rs 1,969 crore and others will contribute Rs 1,200 crore.  

Meanwhile AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu recently held a review meeting with the officials on External aided projects.
