Hyderabad: Picnic turns into tragedy, students drown in reservoir
According to the police, 25 students from the school went to the reservoir on a study tour.
Hyderabad: A Class IX student from Crescent High School, Banjara Hills, drowned in the Kotpally reservoir while on a picnic.
According to the police, 25 students from the school went to the reservoir on a study tour. Sarfaraj and his four cousins were part of the tour. The boys were playing in the water when Sarfaraj suffered an injury and drowned.
His friends noticed him drowning and, with the help of project staff, pulled him out of the water and shifted him to a hospital in Hyderabad for treatment, where he succumbed to injuries.
Based on his father’s complaint Dharur police registered a case. Sub-inspector M. Santosh said the police was waiting for the autopsy report to proceed.
Three kids drown in village pond
Two kids from Hyderabad and another kid from Nagar Kurnool who went for swimming in a village pond, drowned on Friday. The incident came to light when villagers saw the clothes of the three kids on the bank.
The boys identified as Ramesh and Balchandru from Hyderabad, had come to their grandparents’ place on vacation. The other boy Srikanth is from Lingala in Nagar Kurnool district.
Police said the three kids from Appayapalli village went to play on the village’s outskirts and started hunting birds. When they saw the Devi pond they entered the pond.
They removed their clothes and kept it on the bank, but as they did not know swimming and as the depth of the pond had been increased recently the three drowned.
On Saturday morning villagers who were passing by saw clothes on the bank and soon news spread to nearby villages. Expert swimmers from DC tanda retrieved the bodies, and they were handed over to their families after post-mortem.
Ramesh was the only son of his parents and was studying in Class VII in Hyderabad. Balachandru was studying in Class V. Srikanth was a resident of Appayapalli village and was studying in Class VI.
