Jacto-Geo members go on fast in Thanjavur

The members demanded fixing salaries after removing anomalies in the sixth pay commission for teachers, government employees.

Thanjavur: Members of the Joint Action Committee of Teachers Organisations (JACTO) and Government Employees Organisation (GEO) undertook a fast here on Sunday demanding removal of anomalies in the sixth pay commission recommendations and implement a new pay structure.

M.Nambiraj, state president of Tamilaga Asiriyar Koottani (Tamil Nadu Teachers Association) inaugurated the fast, which was held near head post office. K.Rajarajan, district president of Tamil Nadu Government employees' organisation, C.Panneerselam, district secretary of Tamil Nadu Teachers Association participated. 

The members demanded fixing salaries after removing anomalies in the sixth pay commission for teachers, government employees, ministerial staff, headmasters, assistant headmasters etc., and minimum salary of Rs18,000 per month as has been recommended in the seventh pay commission of the Central government. Arrears should be given from January one, 2016.
