Karimnagar: A woman who provided shelter for a mother and her two-year-old daughter allegedly sold the child. The incident took place on Sunday came to light on Tuesday.
According to One Town circle inspector Vijay Kumar, due to some family issues Aruna of Devapur village of Mancherial district left her house and came to Karimnagar district in October.
Seeing Aruna alone at a market with her daughter, Rajini, gave her shelter. Aruna told Rajini she would like to get married again and wanted to give her daughter to someone who can adopt and nourish her child..
Rajini conveyed this to one Dubasi Narsaiah who made a business deal to sell the girl to Gangaiah, resident of Pattipaka Narsangapur village, Dharmaram mandal for Rs 25,000 and sold Aruna’s daughter.
The amount was shared by Narsaiah and Rajini equally. Aruna managed to get to know about the transaction and lodged a complaint in the police.
The police arrested Rajini, Narsaiah and Gangaiah and sent them to judicial remand.
The mother and child were sent to Karimnagar Swadhar Home for protection.
