Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has sought a reply from the state government, the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) and the TS Council for Higher Education on changing the name of the Civics paper to Political Science and revising the syllabus.

The court was dealing a petition by the Public Administration Scholars Association, which challenged a circular issued on July 3 for change of subject that was issued by the BIE secretary.

The petitioners said the decision was taken unilaterally without constituting an experts committee or seeking objections from experts in the subject of public administration.

Mr Burra Ramesh, counsel representing the petitioner, said that the ‘Civics’ subject is the combination of ‘Public Administration’ and ‘Political Science’.
