BJP MLAs not to return soon
Party top brass still confident of collapse of coalition government?.
Bengaluru: The 104 MLAs of the BJP, now holed up at a posh hotel at Gurugram near Haryana, are likely to continue to stay there for a couple more days.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle from Gurugram, a BJP MLA said, "the party state unit has not told us anything about our return to Bengaluru. There is no communication from our party president in this regard." The state leadership also continues to be confident of dislodging the H.D. Kumaraswamy headed coalition government, he added.
Most BJP leaders were on Friday keenly watching the developments in the Congress camp and the outcome of Congress Legislature Party(CLP) meeting besides the number of legislators attending the meeting. With as many as four Congress MLAs remaining absent from the CLP meet, the BJP leadership has decided to wait for two more days before sending its MLAs back to Karnataka, sources said.
The sources added that even if the party leadership tells its MLAs to leave Gurugram and reach Bengaluru, they may be shifted to a resort near the IT city to safeguard them from poaching by the JD(S)-Congress combine.
Meanwhile, criticizing the Congress party for its attempt to keep its flock together by calling a CLP meeting, BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa said, “If your MLAs have reposed faith in the party, what was the need for you to issue a warning about disciplinary action if they failed to attend the CLP meeting?”
