Several VIPs get infected with Covid in AP

Vijayawada/Visakhapatnam: As AP sees a steep rise in Covid-19 cases, several VIPs are getting infected with the virus.
Telugu Desam chief and former chief minister Chandrababu Naidu was down with the infection on Tuesday. “I’ve tested positive for Covid with mild symptoms. I have quarantined myself at home and taking all the necessary precautions. I would request those who came in contact with me to get themselves tested at the earliest. Please be safe and take care,” he tweeted.
Another TD leader and former minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao tested Covid positive and said he was having mild symptoms and has quarantined himself at home.
Deputy CM and minister for revenue Dharmana Krishna Das tested positive and confined himself to home isolation in Srikakulam on Tuesday. His elder brother and Srikakulam MLA Dharmana Prasada also tested positive last week and is in home isolation at Srikakulam.
Minister for fisheries Seediri Appalaraju held a review meeting with the officials on Covid situation in Srikakulam and said that the third wave was here.
Earlier, TD national secretary Nara Lokesh was infected. However, he was asymptomatic and feeling well and confined himself to self-isolation.
AP witnessed a steep rise in daily cases of infections, and this was at 6,996 with four deaths on the daily chart on Tuesday, against 4,108 cases with no death on Monday. This meant a 70.30 per cent daily rise in cases.
The state health authorities reported here on Tuesday that out of 38,055 samples tested, 6,996 persons were found infected. Out of a total 3,19,22,969 samples tested in the state so far, 21,17,384 were found infected and of them, 20,66,762 recovered while 36,108 are still active with the virus.
Among daily cases of coronavirus infections, Chittoor continues to top the with 1,534 followed by 1,263 in Visakhapatnam, 758 in Guntur, 573 in Srikakulam, 462 in Anantapur, 424 in Prakasam, 412 in Vizianagaram, 326 in Krishna, 292 in East Godavari, 259 in Kurnool, 246 in Nellore, 245 in West Godavari and 202 in Kadapa.
With regard to daily cases of death of infected patients, two were reported in Visakhapatnam followed by one each in Chittoor and Nellore. With this, the death toll mounted to 14,514.
The state health authorities discharged 1,066 infected patients after recovery since Monday.
Chief Minister Jagan tweeted wishing speedy recovery and good health to TD chief Chandrababu Naidu.
AP governor Biswabusan Harichandan expressed concern over Naidu’s health and wished him swift recovery.
