AP Congress Committee headquarters inaugurated in Vijayawada
Incidentally, Andhra Ratna Bhavan, was the Congress headquarters when the then state of Andhra Pradesh came into being in 1953.
Vijayawada: AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh on Friday inaugurated the headquarters of Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) here. The APCC, which has been functioning from the joint capital Hyderabad for the last two years, has now formally shifted base to Vijayawada.
State Congress chief N Raghuveera Reddy, AICC secretary Thirunavukkarasu, MPs J D Seelam, K V P Ramachandra Rao, former Union ministers M M Pallam Raju, Panabaka Lakshmi, Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy and a host of other leaders attended the event at Andhra Ratna Bhavan. However, Rajya Sabha member K Chiranjeevi was conspicuous by his absence.

Later, Digvijay chaired a meeting of the APCC coordination committee and the extended executive committee discussing ways to take up agitation programmes against the policies of the Central and state governments.
Decision over agitation demanding special category status for Andhra Pradesh as promised by the UPA government in Rajya Sabha in February 2014 when the state bifurcation Bill was being passed would also be taken in the meeting.
