Land dispute: Man held for killing sister-in-law
The accused, Vivek Prakash, a resident of Kengeri, was married to the sister of the deceased, Netravathi, a year ago.
Bengaluru: The Kengeri police arrested a man for murdering his sister-in-law by strangling her to death at her residence over a property row on Saturday.
The accused, Vivek Prakash, a resident of Kengeri, was married to the sister of the deceased, Netravathi, a year ago. The deceased, Saishree Anu, wife of Sanat, was working as a system operator with BHEL.
Anu owned a piece of land in Bidadi which she was planning to sell for Rs 13 lakh. But Prakash was forcing her to sell it to him for Rs 8 lakh and she had refused to sell it to him. Prakash had fought with her after learning that she had contacted a few realtors to sell the land.
On Sunday evening, Prakash came to Anu's house to discuss about the land and when she refused to talk to him, he strangled her to death using a cloth and fled. Around 9 pm, Netravati came to check on Anu as she was not answering Sanat's calls. She Netravati peeped through the window and found Anu lying motionless.
Since the incident, Prakash had gone incommunicado. The Kengeri police, who had taken up the case, traced and arrested him.
