No action against docs: clinical tests
The three doctors were allegedly involved in various irregularities in clinical trials at GHMC around eight years ago.
Visakhapatnam: Even after filing a case against three doctors of the Government Hospital for Mental Care (GHMC), the city police officials are still waiting for information to take action against them for their suspected involvement in unauthorised clinical trials on mentally-challenged patients during 2011.
As directed by the state health department, Andhra Medical College principal P.V. Sudhakar recently filed criminal complaint at the III-Town police station against former GHMC superintendent Dr G. Bhagya Rao, professors N.N. Raju and V. Padma. However, no documentary evidence was submitted while filing the complaint.
The three doctors were allegedly involved in various irregularities in clinical trials at GHMC around eight years ago. A committee was formed to enquire into this. Three months back, vigilance officers submitted a report to the Directorate of Medical Education (DME).
Mr Sudhakar said: “Principal secretary (health) Poonam Malakondaiah directed us to inform the police about the issue. Now, the police will handle this matter. We have also.”
