GHMC ‘flexi’ble on banner ban
The fine print about the ban came to light following the EV&DM wing withdrawing on Tuesday.
Hyderabad: Had minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav’s staff known that instead of a hoarding, they could have gotten away by erecting a printed cloth banner that declared his and his followers’ adoration towards Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on his birthday, the minister could have avoided the embarrassment of being slapped with a Rs 5,000 fine for erecting the hoarding illegally. It may be recalled that on Sunday, a hoarding with the words ‘Happy Birthday Sir’, and ‘We love KCR’, was unveiled by Mr Srinivas Yadav at Necklace Road to mark Mr Rao’s birthday on Monday.
The way to beat the flexi and illegal hoarding ban in the city, something that minister and TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, is a strong votary of having more than once declared his support for the ban and fining of violators, was provided on Tuesday by the Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management (EM&DV) wing of the GHMC itself.
The fine print about the ban came to light following the EV&DM wing withdrawing on Tuesday, a Rs 10,000 fine it imposed on one of its own, IAS officer P. Pravinya who holds the position of GHMC zonal commissioner, Khairatabad. On Monday, ‘@Citizen_TS’ took to his Twitter account and posed pictures of two flexible banners at Golconda fort announcing tree planting programme as part of celebrating the Chief Minister’s birthday.
Reacting to this, the EV&DM generated an e-challan directed at Pravinya, imposing the fine for the two banners erected at Golconda fort. The same was also tweeted on the director, EV&DM, GHMC’s official Twitter account.
