Top court confirms jail term for madurai lawyer
The Bench also refused to entertain a bail application moved on behalf of Peter Ramesh Kumar, who is in jail.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed in limine an appeal filed by Madurai-based advocate W. Peter Ramesh Kumar against a Madras High Court verdict sentencing him to undergo six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 2,000 for committing contempt of court.
A bench of Justices Anil R. Dave and A.K. Goel, after hearing counsel S. Gowthaman, declined to interfere with the findings of the High Court which had initiated the contempt proceedings after the lawyer barged into their court and disrupted court proceedings. The Bench also refused to entertain a bail application moved on behalf of Peter Ramesh Kumar, who is in jail.
