University of Hyderabad student union calls for protest

Hyderabad: In the wake of a gangrape attempt that occurred in the University of Hyderabad campus on Friday night, the UoH Student Union called for a protest on Monday.
The students union condemned the attacks and assaults in the campus and demanded the improvement of the security arrangements to ensure the safety of the students.
The students union claimed that University of Hyderabad administration which prevents the media, parents, academicians and social activists from entering the University could not prevent the barging in of hooligans who assaulted the students.

The students thanked the state police for their efforts in the case.
They appreciated their performance and efficiency and thanked them for nabbing the criminals in a swift manner.
In the light of the increasing instances of sexual harassment and assaults in the University of Hyderabad, the Students Union has planned to conduct a UGBM soon to discuss this serious issue, coupled with the neglect of the complaints of sexual harassment on authorized personnel which included the teaching and non-teaching staff and the students.
The same would also focus on generating a discussion to improve the safety of students in the campus.
