Vinod was sent to jail for attacking a couple in Kothagudem and a case was registered against him.
Kothagudem: In yet another gruesome crime, a couple living together for the last two months were burnt alive at Ramanjaneya Colony in Kothagudem in the early hours of Monday. The police is yet to determine who was responsible.
Macharla Vinod, 25, was in love with Dravida Tejaswi, 17, who was studying in Class 10. They approached Tejaswi’s parents for permission to marry and the parents agreed but asked Vinod to wait till Tejaswi was older. This Vinod refused to do.
Later, Vinod was accused in a criminal case and Mr Dravida Devadas, Tejaswi’s father, rejected his suite.
Vinod was sent to jail for attacking a couple in Kothagudem and a case was registered against him. He was in jail for two months and released on bail. He immediately met Tejaswi and asked her to live with him. They took a room in Ramanjaneya Colony and were living together for the past two months.
Tejaswi’s parents lodged a complaint in the Chunchupalli police station.
The police asked Vinod to leave Tejaswi. The girl herself stated that she went to him of her own free will and there was no pressure on her. Her statement embarrassed her parents and they said they would not forget what she had said.
According to a witness, the couple had a dispute on Sunday night and shouted at each other. Both were found burnt on Monday morning.
Petrol was used in the incident. It is suspected that Vinod may have poured petrol on Tejaswi and set her alight and that she may have reached out to him and set him alight too.
Circle inspector Karunakar said. “A case of suspected murder has been registered and investigation is on for other details.”
