Kumaraswamy and his son Nikhil at a recent  audio launch programme, Karnataka Karmika Vedike and Janata Dal (Secular) leader Ravi Shetty Byndoor have filed a police complaint.

The dialogue between the two at the audio launch had gone viral on social media and is all about a conversation in which Mr Kumaraswamy asks his son where he is and the son replies. A few days ago, two artists acting as father and son in a Yakshagana play, had delivered a similar dialogue in a comedy scene. This too had gone viral on social media.

Taking serious note of this, Ravi Shetty filed a police complaint on Monday.

“A political issue that was trolled recently, was enacted as a parody in a Yakshagana play using humiliating words. This is not only a humiliation for the artists but could also lead to law and order problems," he stated in the complaint, adding, "Yakshagana is seen with great devotion and reverence in the region and such an act by some artists has hurt Yakshagana lovers.”

He has asked the police to take necessary action. The complaint has been filed at Byndoor which comes under Shivamogga parliament constituency from where the JD(S) is contesting.
