Adilabad: Standing crops have got damaged due to hailstorms and heavy rains at various places in Adilabad and Mancherial districts on Sunday. Some villages in Bajharhathnoor got struck by hailstorm.

Distressed farmers have requested state government to survey their damaged crops and pay them compensation without much delay.

Farmer Ramanavenu Devender of Kumari village in Neredigonda mandal of Boath constituency said he had cultivated maize on four acres and sesame on six acres. The entire crop has got damaged.

Farmers had cultivated mirchi on more than 200 acres in Chennur mandal, which witnessed a hailstorm followed by rains. Likewise, chana crop got destroyed in Boath constituency. Farmers say mirchi gets discoloured once it gets drenched. As a result, they will have to sell their product at low prices.

On the other hand, paddy crop has withered due to a lack of water in Thallapet, Suraram, Venkatapur, Korvichelma, Kommugudem and Thimmapur villages in Dandepalli, Luxettipet and Hazipur mandals of Mancherial district.
