Summer holidays to start early in Telangana owing to heat wave

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday directed that summer holidays of schools should start from today, five days ahead of schedule, in view of oppressive heat in many parts of the state.
The CM felt that it was not desirable to send the children to school in this weather, a release from Rao's office said in Hyderabad.
The Chief Minister asked the Education Department to ensure that summer holidays are declared for government as well as private schools from today, five days in advance.
Hyderabad and several other parts of the state are reeling under heat wave, with mercury soaring above 40 degrees Celsius in some places.
The highest temperature recorded in the state yesterday was 44.5 degrees Celsius, according to IMD. Maximum temperature is likely to be above normal by two to four degrees at many places, it said.
