Alert as bombs thrown at houses in Perambra

Kozhikode: Perambra is in the grip of tension following bomb attacks on some houses after the clashes that erupted on Vishu day between CPM men and Shivaji Sena, a newly-formed extremist group.  A huge police force has  been deployed in the area to prevent further outbreak of violence.

On  Vishu day,  clashes had broken out between the Shivaji Sena and  the owner and workers of a hotel owned by a CPM man in the town. Later, country-made bombs were thrown at the house of one of the members of the Shivaji Sena. On Wednesday morning,  bombs were thrown at a  restaurant  owned by K. Rajan,   one of the workers of Shivaji Sena.    The houses of Unnikkunnu CPM branch secretary U.C.  Haneefa and DYFI Kallott unit secretary Pavattuvayal Sidharth were attacked with bombs in retaliation.   

Later, bombs were thrown at the houses of Shivaji Sena workers Parakkuthazhe Kolliyil Suresh and Padinjarayil Sumesh. The  police arrested Shivaji Sena worker Kuniyil Rahulraj over  the first incident and remanded him for 14 days.  Cases were registered against four persons over bombing at CPM workers’ houses.
