Telangana government to take up mega projects after polls
HMDA officials claimed that the projects cannot be completed without financial assistance from the government.
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government plans to take up various ambitious projects within the city, but only after the general elections.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) officials said, municipal administration and urban development minister K.T. Rama Rao has promised to provide Rs 20,000 crore for development activities in the annual budget if this government is voted back to power.
According to HMDA officials, the HMDA is expected to give special allocations to such major and long-pending projects such as, the Rs 100 crore inter-city bus terminal at Miyapur, the Rs 125 crore Hyderabad Habitat Centre (HHC), the Rs 134 crore nodal development using Transit Oriented Development at Khanamet in Madhapur, strategically located on the spinal road (connecting Mumbai highway at JNTU to Hitec City) between the existing Hitec City railway station and upcoming Metro station near Hitec City, the Rs 176 crore Budvel in Ranga Reddy district, and a Rs 100 crore Eco Park at Kothwalguda, spread over 85 acres.
Two other mega projects Techno City at Tellapur at an estimated cost of Rs 446 crore for 100 acres and the 374-acre Discovery City along the Outer Ring Road, have not seen much progress in the three years since their launch.
HMDA officials claimed that the projects cannot be completed without financial assistance from the government, which will be possible only after the general elections.
