Kozhikode: AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal has alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other union ministers were bringing in huge amounts of money for NDA candidates.

“I doubt that they are misusing government machinery for transporting money while crisscrossing the nation for election campaign,” he said at the Press Club here on Thursday. The election commission should explain what was in the box shifted out from Modi’s chopper at Chitradurga in Karnataka the other day, he said.

“The election commission should intervene to ensure transparency and prevent such manipulations,” he said.

Congress leader Sreevasthava had released the visuals of the box being shifted from the chopper of Modi to a vehicle that sped off.

“The BJP is using money power to influence the election. There have been raids across the nation. All are equal at election time. But why the election commission is hesitant to check the PM’s chopper?” he asked. “Modi transported the box because there was something illegal in it. Even the choppers of Odisha and Karnataka chief ministers were checked. But Modi and his chopper are exempted from checks,” he said.
