Technical snags hit EVMs, people fume over delay

Bengaluru: There were complaints of voting machines facing technical snags at Bommanahalli, Hebbal, Jakkur and Domlur.

Revathy Ashok, Managing Trustee, B.PAC said that after reaching the booth she saw aged voters and pregnant women waiting at the venue since the machines were not working.
“I voted at 8:10 am since the machines were not working, I had to call the CEO Karnataka to which he responded and instructed the officials. It took an hour for the officials to resolve the issue,” she added.
Even on social media same reactions were echoed. Addressing the CEO Karnataka on Twitter, Vijay Bhaskar Reddy posted, “Bommanahalli, Singasandra election booth voting machines are not working. People are waiting from 6 am.”
Another Twitter user Shankar K. Selvaraja had posted: “EVM malfunction delayed voting for 45 minutes in Bangalore North, booth no 62.”
Suparna Goswami, who went to cast her vote in Gottigere, had tweeted: “It is 7:35 and EVM not working at Gottigere polling station No 364, Bangalore. Queue is getting longer every minute.”
Amar Nityananda, a voter at Chamarajpet had tweeted: “The polling stations in Chamarajpet, Bangalore south is operating painfully slowly. There was a malfunction of the EVM as well. Been in the queue for a little over an hour and a half. Can anything be done to improve this?”
