Kerala High Court to consider new plea in Lavalin case acquittal
The petitioner Jeevan of Bharan-anganam moved the court arguing that the acquittal was due to improper conduct of prosecution.
Kochi: The Kerala High Court will consider a fresh petition filed in the Lavalin case challenging the acquittal of seven persons including CPM leader Pinarayi Vijayam on Thursday.
The petitioner Jeevan of Bharananganam moved the court arguing that the acquittal was due to the improper conduct of prosecution. Justice Raja Vijayaraghavan will consider the case on Thur-sday. Jeevan sought to implead in the appeal by CBI challenging Thiruvananthapuram CBI Special court order. The petitioner also said that there is culpable failure on the part of CBI in not making NRI business man Dileep Rahulan, who acted as an agent of the Canadian company SNC Lavalin, and this is the most important lapse which had resulted in the discharge of all the accused.
The petitioner submitted that Dilip Rahulan was the local representative of Lavalin and he was instrumental in signing the MoU and subsequent money transactions of the company was through him. “It is now reliably learnt that Dilip had swindled an amount of about 8,000 crore dirham and left Canada as well. Therefore, Dilip should have been made as an accused in the case,” the petition stated.
Kochi: The petitioner further alleged that Dilip Rahulan is holding three passports- Australian, Canada and US. In India there was look out notice against him, the petitioner added.
According to Jeevan, Pinarayi Vijayan's son Vivek Kiran is working in an Abu Dhabi bank, UAE and an amount of United Arab Emirates Dirhams worth Rs 95 crore was transferred to him.
