Rs 50 lakh succour for rain affected in Alappuzha

The people who are in relief camps would be supplied food items through Suplyco and Horticorp.

Alappuzha: The district administration will distribute Rs 50 lakh as immediate relief to the people affected by the rain. This was decided at an emergency meeting called by district collector R. Girija on Wednesday to assess the rain havoc. Ms Girija said that  the aid  would be given to the affected with  the support of local government bodies.

As many as 197 families were accommodated in relief camps. At least 16 house were totally destroyed and  five  partially damaged. The people who are in relief camps would be supplied food items through Suplyco and Horticorp.

The fire and rescue force will be asked to drain water from inundated areas. If there is need for  more relief camps, the nearby schools will be made available.

Sub-collectors  D.  Balamurali,  R. Chitradharan, DMO D. Vasanthadas and  fisheries deputy director S. Mahesh were among those attended the meeting.
