Congress Legislature Party flays Nalgonda incident
Call to probe attack on Congress leader and scores of party workers.
Hyderabad: The main Opposition Congress party on Thursday demanded the State government to launch a judicial probe into the Nalgonda incident where both TRS members and local policemen attacked senior Congress leader and MLA Komatireddy Venkata Reddy along with scores of Congress workers. The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) which met under the leadership of TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, leaders of Opposition in Assembly and Legislative Council K. Janareddy and Shabbir Ali passed a resolution condemning the Nalgonda incident as deliberate violation of protocol stating such an incident reflects the sorry state of affairs in the State and the brutality of police and TRS workers for orchestrating the attack on Congress.
Both Uttam Kumar Reddy and Janareddy warned the government that if and when Congress comes to power, the party will “pay in the same coin with interest”. “Power is not permanent, values are important, but TRS leaders seem to have ignored these and resorted to attacks, we will not keep quite if there going to be no judicial probe into it, we know what to do and how to retaliate,” Janareddy warned.
Janareddy demanded the chief minister to immediately take action against the erring police personnel for the brutal lathicharge and injuring the MLA. Leaders said Nalgonda falls in Komatireddy Venkatareddy Assembly constituency, and inauguration of sweet lime market yard is a government function, how can they prevent local MLA attending to it, how can they hurl stones and attack with sticks on Congress workers who all gathered there for the function.
Komatireddy Venkata reddy who attended the meeting said sweet lime market was his idea and he tried even during Congress regime. “Minister Harishrao invited me for the inauguration, but local TRS leaders and police have spoiled the atmosphere with the attack,” Komatireddy said. He said local Minister G. Jagadiswara Reddy with the support of the chief minister had planned the attack and executed it.
