Hyderabad: The employees of Praga tools Housing Society have alleged that their land is being grabbed by private builders. The employees of the society had purchased 22 acres in 1987 at Hashmatpet village, Balanagar mandal under Alwal PS limits, with contribution from each employee. But over time, the entire land was encroached upon. It was alleged that there were some ex-members of the society who were involved in selling the land illegally to outsiders, president of the society S. Ashok.

He added, “Because of the behaviour of a few members from the previous board, all of us decided to constitute a new board and this board was selected unanimously. When we went on to survey, we were surprised to see that only 3.5 acres of land records were left in the revenue department. But when we visited the land it came as a shocker to see that the leftover land was occupied by a trust. When we informed them that this land belongs to the society, they claimed it to be theirs.” and produced fake documents. Later we approached the Miyapur court the court ordered an injunction and when we produced those court orders to the Alwal police, there was no action from their side. In fact the police have told us that how we can enter into someone’s private premises and threatened us that they will book trespassing case on us,” said Jabbar M.A, the assistant secretary of the society.

K. Shankar Rao said, “In 1987 there were 230 members who purchased this land and everyone contributed Rs. 17,000/. Each and every record of our land is in the revenue department and it clearly states that the land still belongs to praga tools housing society. We have also informed about the issue to the home minister of Telangana Mr. Nayani Narsimha Reddy. He called up the Alwal police to help us and protect the land from encroachers, but they haven’t done anything till now and we are being forced to move away from our own land.” When tried contacting the Alwal police, there was no response from the inspector.
