Speed up bridge work, says KJ George
Earlier, Mayor G. Padmavathi inspected Dorekere and directed officials to divert the sewerage from entering the lake.
Bengaluru: Bengaluru Development Minister K. J. George on Thursday directed the BBMP Storm Waster Drain (SWD) wing officials to complete the bridge work across the Vrishabhavathi valley near the Gali Anjaneya temple on Mysore road in the next one month. George was accompanied with Mayor G. Padmavathi.
While inspecting the SWDs across the city, Mr George said that completing the drain work will not only ease congestion on Mysore road, but also arrests flooding. He also directed officials to expedite drain work at the Nayandahalli lake and provide chain link fence around the drains to prevent dumping of waste.
Earlier, Mayor G. Padmavathi inspected Dorekere and directed officials to divert the sewerage from entering the lake.
She said that Rs 4 crore has been allocated for providing an alternative drain to carry sewerage. Following the complaints from the public, Padmavathi inspected the lake located at Vasanthapura on Uttarahalli road. Residents of the area claimed that though the lake has a sewerage treatment plant with a capacity of one million litres per day, untreated sewerage was entering the lake and emanating unbearable stench.
